Paul and Barbara Siaki have been working in South Africa since 1998.

They are both the children of missionary parents working in the Philippines.
It seemed natural for them to move into mission work themselves after their
education at Biola University. Paul spent some time in the corporate world
and Barbara taught Kindergarten in California for several years until both
felt the pull of full-time ministry and decided to join OC.

Paul's parents, Ben and Perla Siaki were with OC Africa, and after a visit
to Swaziland in 1995, it was decided that this part of the world was a good
fit for Paul and Barbara. After their acceptance to both OC and the team in
Southern Africa, they sold their home, quit their jobs, and began the long
process of support raising. They were thrilled to finally arrive on the
field in October of 1998.

Paul's ministry is quite varied. His main task at this time has been the
planting of a new and vibrant church in a developing area called Ruimsig.
His hope is that this new church will provide a model for healthy church
planting in the future and he works closely with mainline denominations to
bring about renewal. He is also quite involved in the Johannesburg
Transformation Movement. He helps to organize the national day of prayer in
this city (usually at several different venues). He also works to provide
vision for the many domains of society (business, education and the arts to
name a few) to understand how they can be agents of transformation in the
workplace as witnesses of Christ.

Another area that Paul ministers in is in the teaching of Missiology in two
seminary programs. At this time, Paul is also the treasurer and deputy
director of the OC Africa Southern Team.

Barbara spends most of her time in the running of the household and
parenting their three children: Dominic, Michaela and Isabelle.

However, she is also the Sunday School teacher for all ages at the church
plant in Ruimsig. Three or four times a year, Barbara and one or two other
OC Africa wives run Sunday School teacher seminars in rural areas where
curriculum is not easily accessible. They teach the teachers how to run a
program that is exciting and relevant without much money by using available
materials such as cereal boxes, toilet paper rolls and newspapers. As the
children continue to grow up, Barbara looks forward to the possibility of an
expanded ministry.

Dominic is 12 years old and in grade 7. He is interested in art and
computers, and plays rugby for his school.

Michaela is 9 years old and in grade 4. She loves all living creatures and
has a great voice. She swims and plays netball for the school.

Isabelle is 6 years old and is in grade 1. She is a dancer and is beginning
to swim with the school team.
